Uchaikin Vasilij Fedorovich is a leading expert in the field of infectious disease in children in Russian Federation. 24 doctoral theses and 38 PhD theses were written under his guidance and with his consulting. Among his students – 19 heads of the departments in Russia and CIS.

Basic programs for children's infectious diseases for medical universities were written by V.F.Uchajkin. Under his guidance the basic manuals on teaching the course of Infectious Diseases in Children to subordinator students, interns, and residents were developed and published. During the last 15 years V.F.Uchajkin always takes part in the preparation of almost all applications for orders of the Ministry of Health of RF on infectious pathology in children.

V.F.Uchajkin is a chairman of Problem Commission on infectious disease in children under Russian Academy of Sciences, is a chief pediatrician of the Presidential Medical Center, president of the Association of Pediatricians and Infection Disease doctors in Russia, chief editor of the “CHILDREN INFECTIONS” journal, a member of the editorial board of the journal "Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases," Hospital "and many others. For many years until 2015 was a Head of Department of Infectious Diseases in Children of Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University.

V.F. Uchaikin - author of over 500 scientific papers, including 19 monographs, textbooks and manuals for doctors, has 12 copyright certificates and 11 patents. V.F. Uchaikin is a laureate of the Council’s of Ministers of the Russian Federation award (1996, 2003), twice winner of the award named after academic N.F. Filatov, the laureate of the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University, winner of the international award "Profession - Life, personal contribution to the protection of motherhood and childhood", 2007.
